Why we Sing

  • Singing for Life: Leisure & Learning in the Adult Community Choir | Rachel Rensink-Hoff.  People sing in choirs for many reasons, including the sheer enjoyment of singing, mental and physical rejuvenation, social connection and the pursuit of musical excellence. This spectrum of motivation for choral participation is present in most community choirs, as is a wide range of musical and singing experience. While many members will have sung their entire lives, others are just beginning, and this typically diverse composition of most community choirs makes them a particularly rich source of insight into the nature of adult music participation.
